In August of 2019, ABI was called upon for a difficult bridge inspection in San Diego, California.  This bridge is over a half-mile long with multiple on and off ramps and frequent traffic.  One section of the bridge was exhibiting extensive visible deterioration and Caltrans wanted to verify whether or not other parts of the bridge were experiencing the same.  Doing so manually would require several hours or even days of total closure, an expensive ordeal for a simple delamination and crack inspection.  ABI was able to complete the delamination and crack inspection in just 1 hour using the Rapid Automated Sounding (RAS) and Advanced Deck Imaging (ADI) device.  This device does not require full lane closures and can complete inspections without exposing any personnel to live traffic.  We'd like to thank Caltrans for having us out to help them quickly tackle this difficult problem.
